بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

  1. 89:1

    وَٱلْفَجْرِ١

    Wal-Fajr

    By the dawn

  2. 89:2

    وَلَيَالٍعَشْرٍۢ٢

    Wa layaalin 'ashr

    And [by] ten nights

  3. 89:3

    وَٱلشَّفْعِوَٱلْوَتْرِ٣

    Wash shaf'i wal watr

    And [by] the even [number] and the odd

  4. 89:4

    وَٱلَّيْلِإِذَايَسْرِ٤

    Wallaili izaa yasr

    And [by] the night when it passes,

  5. 89:5

    هَلْفِىذَٰلِكَقَسَمٌۭلِّذِىحِجْرٍ٥

    Hal fee zaalika qasamul lizee hijr

    Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

  6. 89:6

    أَلَمْتَرَكَيْفَفَعَلَرَبُّكَبِعَادٍ٦

    Alam tara kaifa fa'ala rabbuka bi'aad

    Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

  7. 89:7

    إِرَمَذَاتِٱلْعِمَادِ٧

    Iramaa zaatil 'imaad

    [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

  8. 89:8

    ٱلَّتِىلَمْيُخْلَقْمِثْلُهَافِىٱلْبِلَـٰدِ٨

    Allatee lam yukhlaq misluhaa fil bilaad

    The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

  9. 89:9

    وَثَمُودَٱلَّذِينَجَابُوا۟ٱلصَّخْرَبِٱلْوَادِ٩

    Wa samoodal lazeena jaabus sakhra bil waad

    And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

  10. 89:10

    وَفِرْعَوْنَذِىٱلْأَوْتَادِ١٠

    Wa fir'awna zil awtaad

    And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

  11. 89:11

    ٱلَّذِينَطَغَوْا۟فِىٱلْبِلَـٰدِ١١

    Allazeena taghaw fil bilaad

    [All of] whom oppressed within the lands

  12. 89:12

    فَأَكْثَرُوا۟فِيهَاٱلْفَسَادَ١٢

    Fa aksaroo feehal fasaad

    And increased therein the corruption.

  13. 89:13

    فَصَبَّعَلَيْهِمْرَبُّكَسَوْطَعَذَابٍ١٣

    Fasabba 'alaihim Rabbuka sawta 'azaab

    So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

  14. 89:14

    إِنَّرَبَّكَلَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ١٤

    Inna Rabbaka labil mirsaad

    Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

  15. 89:15

    فَأَمَّاٱلْإِنسَـٰنُإِذَامَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُرَبُّهُۥفَأَكْرَمَهُۥوَنَعَّمَهُۥفَيَقُولُرَبِّىٓأَكْرَمَنِ١٥

    Fa ammal insaanu izaa mab talaahu Rabbuhoo fa akramahoo wa na' 'amahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee akraman

    And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

  16. 89:16

    وَأَمَّآإِذَامَاٱبْتَلَىٰهُفَقَدَرَعَلَيْهِرِزْقَهُۥفَيَقُولُرَبِّىٓأَهَـٰنَنِ١٦

    Wa ammaaa izaa mabtalaahu faqadara 'alaihi rizqahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee ahaanan

    But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

  17. 89:17

    كَلَّا ۖبَللَّاتُكْرِمُونَٱلْيَتِيمَ١٧

    Kalla bal laa tukrimooo nal yateem

    No! But you do not honor the orphan

  18. 89:18

    وَلَاتَحَـٰٓضُّونَعَلَىٰطَعَامِٱلْمِسْكِينِ١٨

    Wa laa tahaaaddoona 'alaata'aamil miskeen

    And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

  19. 89:19

    وَتَأْكُلُونَٱلتُّرَاثَأَكْلًۭالَّمًّۭا١٩

    Wa taakuloonat turaasa aklal lammaa

    And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

  20. 89:20

    وَتُحِبُّونَٱلْمَالَحُبًّۭاجَمًّۭا٢٠

    Wa tuhibboonal maala hubban jammaa

    And you love wealth with immense love.

  21. 89:21

    كَلَّآإِذَادُكَّتِٱلْأَرْضُدَكًّۭادَكًّۭا٢١

    Kallaaa izaaa dukkatil ardu dakkan dakka

    No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

  22. 89:22

    وَجَآءَرَبُّكَوَٱلْمَلَكُصَفًّۭاصَفًّۭا٢٢

    Wa jaaa'a Rabbuka wal malaku saffan saffaa

    And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

  23. 89:23

    وَجِا۟ىٓءَيَوْمَئِذٍۭبِجَهَنَّمَ ۚيَوْمَئِذٍۢيَتَذَكَّرُٱلْإِنسَـٰنُوَأَنَّىٰلَهُٱلذِّكْرَىٰ٢٣

    Wa jeee'a yawma'izim bi jahannnam; Yawma 'iziny yatazakkarul insaanu wa annaa lahuz zikraa

    And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

  24. 89:24

    يَقُولُيَـٰلَيْتَنِىقَدَّمْتُلِحَيَاتِى٢٤

    Yaqoolu yaa laitanee qaddamtu lihayaatee

    He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

  25. 89:25

    فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢلَّايُعَذِّبُعَذَابَهُۥٓأَحَدٌۭ٢٥

    Fa Yawma izil laa yu'azzibu 'azaabahooo ahad

    So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

  26. 89:26

    وَلَايُوثِقُوَثَاقَهُۥٓأَحَدٌۭ٢٦

    Wa laa yoosiqu wasaaqa hooo ahad

    And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

  27. 89:27

    يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَاٱلنَّفْسُٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ٢٧

    Yaaa ayyatuhan nafsul mutma 'innah

    [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

  28. 89:28

    ٱرْجِعِىٓإِلَىٰرَبِّكِرَاضِيَةًۭمَّرْضِيَّةًۭ٢٨

    Irji'eee ilaa Rabbiki raadiyatam mardiyyah

    Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

  29. 89:29

    فَٱدْخُلِىفِىعِبَـٰدِى٢٩

    Fadkhulee fee 'ibaadee

    And enter among My [righteous] servants

  30. 89:30

    وَٱدْخُلِىجَنَّتِى٣٠

    Wadkhulee jannatee

    And enter My Paradise."
